Periodontics Dentistry

Commonly referred to as gum disease, if not treated, periodontal disease can cause significant long-term problems, such as tooth loss.

Treatment Overview

Your dentist will begin the treatment by inspecting your mouth. Depending on the results, you may need surgery. It is a simple surgical procedure performed under anesthesia to ensure your dentist can clean directly under the gums to eliminate all the bacteria that cause the disease. In the most severe cases, your dentist may recommend a bone transplant to regenerate any lost bone.

What is Periodontics?

Periodontitis

Periodontal diseases commonly result from infections and inflammation of the gums and bones surrounding the teeth. It is mainly seen in adults and often causes inflammation and redness of the gums and bleeding during teeth brushing.

Why do I need periodontitis?

Gum disease can be painful and lead to tooth loss if left untreated. Periodontitis is essential to eradicate any signs of illness and help keep your teeth intact.

Aftercare treatment

The best way to prevent gum disease from reoccurring is to maintain good oral health care at home. We include brushing and flossing your teeth at least twice daily and using mouthwash. You may also be required to take a course of antibiotics to treat gum disease.
